Hello everyone. Earlier this month I had an offer accepted, but after the inspection it appeared to need 50k+ in work on an 85k house, as well as having radon poisoning. I decided to back out at that point, and even graciously offered to let them see the inspection reports that I paid $650 for. It’s been over a week now and the seller has refused to sign the termination paper. Both agents have never experienced this before. In the past few days the seller has taken the house off the market and removed the listings, but still hasn’t signed the papers. Is there anything I can do in this situation? My realtor thinks it might be in an attempt to keep the $500 in earnest but I’m not sure how that would even be legal. It’s frustrating that I can’t put offers in on a different house just because I’m stuck in contract with a house I can’t afford to fix, that isn’t even for sale anymore. If it makes a difference I’m getting the loan through my dad instead of the bank, and therefore it’s technically a cash offer instead of a conventional or fha. Just trying to find myself a starter home. 😣
